Planning a family trip? These are some of the websites and services we use when researching and booking our own travels.

Hotels

Booking.com – We use Booking.com regularly when comparing accommodation for our family trips, particularly when we want flexible cancellation options or a wide choice of hotels and apartments.

Tours & Activities

We use GetYourGuide, Viator and Klook when researching tours, attraction tickets and experiences for our trips.

Checking reviews is always one of our main steps before booking. We look at the overall rating, but also read the most recent reviews to see what families actually thought, whether there were any issues with organisation or timings, and whether the experience lived up to the description.

We use GetYourGuide, Viator and Klook for our trips.

For our European trips, we usually compare experiences and prices across both GetYourGuide and Viator. Sometimes the same or very similar experiences are available at different prices, so it is worth checking both before booking. We also compare what is included, cancellation terms, timings and recent reviews, as the cheapest option is not always the best value.

We also like that you can see who actually operates the experience. On Viator, scroll down to Additional Info and look for “Supplied by”. On GetYourGuide, the Activity Provider is shown on the activity page. This makes it easier to compare like-for-like experiences across both platforms before deciding which one to book.

For our trips in Asia, we also check Klook. In our experience, we often find particularly good prices and a wide choice of attractions and experiences across Asian destinations, so it is always one of the sites we compare before booking.
